The movement of steel sheets is a daily occurrence in industrial warehouses, cutting, welding and machining centres, shipyards, etc., together with the loading and unloading of the lorries that transport these sheets. All of this means that a large number of operators and many working hours are devoted to these tasks during a working day, which translates into high economic costs for any organisation.
Aware of this, many of these industries have been equipping their overhead cranes with fixed beams fitted with several electromagnets or permanent lifting magnets.
To cover the entire range of materials according to length, fixed beams are designed with more attachment points, so that bending in thin sheets does not cause the load to become mechanically detached.
The operators stopped production and devoted themselves to moving the magnets from one position to another. These adaptation tasks took time away from production operators, caused delays in unloading and loading, and could lead to accidents due to negligence.
The solution to these problems is to replace the fixed beams with electro-hydraulic telescopic beams, keeping the same magnets as the fixed ones and adding a small electrical cabinet to the original electrical equipment to control the telescopic arms of the electro-hydraulic beam.
The advantages of this solution are enormous:
- The operator opens and closes the arms, adjusting them to the load from his control station.
- For short loads, the beam is reduced to fit into small spaces.
- Manoeuvres are quick, increasing production times and eliminating non-productive downtime.
